2010 January - October
2010 started off with us seeing in the New Year in Sydney.
It was a crazy experience and would have been better with a group as trying to hold your viewing spot for 12hr or more was too much in the end for us. After seeing the early fireworks it was off walking around the city/ making our way back to the motel and watching the midnight ones on T.V. - we must be getting old!!
Back in Darwin and back to work. Lis starting her intern Dr. year at Royal Darwin Hospital. The student days of finishing early whenever you want are over... longer hours and responsibility but also a pay cheque, at last.
First camping trip of the year was to Edith Falls, near Katherine. One of our favourite camp sites.

In April Lis's brother Marc was on his trip Down Under and had a week with us for a Territory experience. So camping we went.
Litchfield park
Camping at Walkers Creek, another one of our favourite spots. There are only 8 sites, and they are a minimum of 200 m apart, each with their own waterfall and waterhole. Nice! Campsite #3 this time.
Timed shots are a bit of a challenge when you have to swim 10 m then climb up a waterfall in 10s. But it was worth trying...
Corroboree Billabong
Sunrise and wildlife cruise, and time to show Marc a croc or two and maybe catch a barra (short for barramundi - iconic NT fish that has to be a minimum of 55 cm long to keep, and can grow longer than 120 cm).
In June Lis got me a Nikon D90 SLR camera so now I have a new toy. Here are some of my practice shots.

In August we took a romantic weekend away to Lake Bennett, 1 1/2 hours south of Darwin. Fresh water lake with no crocs.

Tiwi fishing trip
At the end of September, I went on a 2-day fishing trip with work mates and clients (who own a charter boat). It was all reef fishing along the west coast of the Tiwi Islands, just north of Darwin. We came home with a good feed of Golden Snapper.
And that's the year's photo-worthy events so far. As predicted, the blog postings are getting further apart (and therefore longer sorry). So tune in next year for the next installment... :)
