Washington DC, NY City & Toronto
(All in 2 weeks)
At the end of October we went over to the USA for Craig's cousin Drew and Linda's wedding. The 2 weeks before the wedding we crashed at Drew and Linda's home in Washington DC (along with 10 other Aussie relatives) for some fun family time.

Deer in parkland just next to Drew and Linda's house in suburban DC.

Yes, that is a good looking engine!!!
After getting over jet lag we all went on a road trip south of Washington DC to the Shenandoah Valley to enjoy the spectacular fall colours. It was a fun trip with all 12 of us in a 12-seater "A-Team" van.
Luray Caverns
Little Oliver with all the different types of pumpkins (aka squash).
Our cabins at Sugar Tree Mountain Inn - those without young kids/babies had the top cabin while those with kids where kept down in the cabin at the bottom of the hill. Ironically, this also became the poker house.

Ahhh... morning coffee and breakfast in the main lodge/restaurant.

Enjoying the view of spectacular Fall colours.

The day's activity was walking up to Crab Tree Falls, a fantastic walk through the forest with a carpet of golden leaves.

The gang - Matt, Jodie, Gareth (with little Oliver asleep in the backpack), Linda, Pam, Alana, Megs, Lis, Don, Craig and Drew.
Back in Washington DC we had a day doing touristy things- monuments, museums, etc. A good day but the wind was icy cold. While I stayed down in DC, Lis took a quick trip up to Canada to visit family/friends in Toronto for the weekend.
Washington Monument
View from top, Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and the White House

Time for some fun, Halloween...
Pumpkin carving with little Oliver and this was our creation.
Practising family musical talents
Squish...
Rescue...

With Drew and Linda's wedding only days away we all loaded up into the van for the trip up to New York State. Last minute preparations to be done, but first it was off to the city for some sightseeing.
River cruise

Trying to be artistic, old railway station all overgrown.
Metropolitan Museum of Art
With space being a premium in the city, parking lots take things to a new level...

Enjoying Times Square after seeing the musical "Wicked" on Broadway.

Time for the main event....the WEDDING.

Groom's last minute speech writing.
After the " I Do's " it was cocktail hour and then...

Dinner with dancing, speeches and cake cutting.
Happy couple, it was an amazing wedding and a great time had by all that were there.

The end of a good night and a fantastic couple of weeks. Thanks Drew & Linda for a great trip and all the pre-wedding activities you organised.

Hey, how come I never saw this entry? And where is Lis behind her mossy rock? Just to let you know, I've stolen some of your pics for my FB page...
And what a fabulous place Drew lives in! Life in DC looks pretty sweet.
