C & E's Wedding

C & E's Wedding

3rd January 2009

Oxtongue Lake, Ontario
CANADA

Hello all!
Here finally is the account of our Canadian winter wedding. It went off perfectly, and we are very pleased to be able to share the photos with you all.

Thanks to all those who contributed their photos - there are so many great ones it was hard to chose.

The weekend started off on Friday night at the pub for a welcome dinner as everyone made their way to Oxtongue Lake. A bit of a white-knuckle drive for some as they battled a lovely Canadian snow storm...

The morning of the big day

After the Friday storm, we woke up to blue sky, sunshine and 7 cm of fresh, sparkling snow (and a balmy -10 degrees max) - JUST PERFECT!

Our accommodation cabins at Wolf Den

A few of the morning jobs: stamping out the path/wedding aisle through the forest to the lake and setting up the altar.

The men went to set up the tables

while the women worked on the bride

Hmm... what am I doing??

By 11 am it was time for the guests to make their way to the wedding site

Now it's just waiting for the bride...

Just as we finished saying our vows, a dusting of ice crystals floated down on the gathering. Great timing!

Sealed with rings and a kiss

Walking back down the aisle as husband and wife...

only to start a snow fight at the end!

Everyone
(minus our photographer Marc and the gastro victims)

Parents of the bride and groom

Witnesses

Thanks marc, you did a great job

Now the real snowball fight begins...

Bull's eye

Payback

Sending one off on the sly...
(I had to have the last word!)

But still smiling at the end!

On the frozen Oxtongue Lake!

Our delicious lunch reception was held at Nor'Loch Lodge.

Last minute Pavlova cake decorating
(thanks mum and dad)

MC Alex

Thanks to the MC and all the great speeches

After the reception we retired to Bunkhouse to further the celebrations...

The French discussing wine

A few vocal games of Pit!

Marc's photo studio

The next day was one of different activities - skating, cross country skiing, dog sledding, walks, relaxing, making brunch, etc.

(Craig just couldn't stop in front of the net, snowbank required...)

But looks a good Canadian now!

It was a -23 degree morning for the dog sledders. Brrr...

Sunday night fireworks and wolf howl

More fresh snow for Monday departure

What a wonderful weekend.
Thanks everyone!

Awesome! Nice selection of shots, but mostly, what a great wedding! Quite a good start for the two of you...well, a good 'close-ish-to-the-beginning' at least.

I love the photos! It looks like you all had a wonderful wedding celebration.
Tony and I have just been to Brisbane to see Steve, wife Katie and lovely little twins Kayla and Jake. I gave the Blog link to Steve to have a look.
Best wishes for your future,
